Especially with our collectors and patrons. Word is out that we know how to do it right, because we are reputed to host the best receptions in the art industry. These highly-anticipated events feature Ford in attendance, new and magnificent art, gourmet catering, fine wines or cocktails, and often we even have live music to fully engage all of your senses. Add to this our lively and engaging artist and collectors and it's easy to see why these are the parties not to be missed.

The first show in 2012 is entitled simply "Red", and it may very well be the Ford Smith Gallery's most thrilling exhibit ever. Guests will experience the color red as they could never imagine. But Ford Smith can! He creates a thematic and fiery show of original paintings on this special night. Join Ford as he interprets his distinctive landscapes in passionate variations--red being the predominate theme. He takes his signature red on a stunning and creative journey as he applies the "Red" theme to the most notable series of his paintings.

Guests at the opening reception are asked to wear red and enjoy an entire event centered on the the celebration of this inspirational hue. From red cocktails to flame-inspired hors d'oeuvres, the aura of February at the Ford Smith Gallery are these romantic and exciting scarlet tones.  "Trading Places" is a novel event collaboration between two gallery owners, Gary Handler of the Vinings Gallery, and Cristi Smith of the Ford Smith Gallery in Roswell.  For almost 10 years, these two premier Atlanta galleries exclusively featured world-famous artists including Thomas Arvid and Ford Smith.  Now for the first time, for two respective weekends, they will literally "trade places" with a 3-day event for their respective gallery patrons and neighbors.  By trading places for a weekend, each gallery's collectors and patrons will have the opportunity to view an entirely "new" gallery without driving across town to enjoy the experience.  

 The Vinings Gallery will metamorphose Roswell's Ford Smith Gallery with a fresh exhibit of art from their world-famous artists including Thomas Arvid, Henry Asencio and Michael Flohr as the first transformation.  The following month, the Ford Smith Gallery will be transforming the Vinings Gallery into a Ford Smith venue so that their discerning clientele can experience his extraordinary landscapes in their familiar venue.  Each gallery will be hosting a dazzling artist reception--Thomas Arvid in Roswell and Ford Smith in Vinings. The Children's Restoration Network Live Auction and Gala
Saturday, July 23rd at the Ritz Carlton in Buckhead
Less than 24 hours after Ford had surgery on his right eye (a detached retina), he donned a patch and made his attendance for this worthy cause. Ford created and donated the remarkable "New Hope" painting to the Children's Restoration Network, providing support and scholarships to Atlanta's homeless children. It was an evening of charitable warmth, glamour and friendship. Ford's donation of "New Hope" was the star of the live auction and raised enough money to pay for THREE scholarships, now named for Ford Smith.
